Safety is the least expensive, and best, insurance policy.
— James Ronald Jones

Safety is a badge of honor and source deep pride for J.R. Jones Roofing.  However, that is not where our team gets the most satisfaction. We are grateful to all the men and women on our team who make safety a part of the fabric of our culture so that everyone gets to go home safe at night. The father gets to have dinner with his family. The mother gets to tuck her babies in a night. The young men and women who work tirelessly throughout the day, get to fall asleep in their own beds, secure and safe.

The desire to keep yourself and others safe seems so simple yet so elusive to most contractors. It is all too common for our competitors to have multiple OSHA violations and safety infractions. Most chalk it up to, “it comes with the territory” or use alot of slick talk to excuse it away. But usually an unsafe work environment or multiple safety violations are strong indicators of systemic carelessness or an unwillingness to put forth effort and financing towards safety programs.

This is not the case with J.R. Jones Roofing.  We care about our team members, and our partners, enough to ensure that our work environments and behaviors are of the highest caliber of safety by allocating our first resources towards safety culture, training, and equipment. Everyone should go home safe at night.

Project Safety Methodology.

Upon official award of the project J.R. Jones Roofing will assign to the project a Project Manager, an on-site Superintendent, a Sit Specific Safety Rep, and a Project Assistant.

The Pre-Construction Manager, working in conjunction with the Estimator of record, will verify all drawings and specifications, prepare submittal packages, and create detail drawings to ensure all team members fully understand the scope of work, site logistics, contractual obligations, and safety protocols. The Pre-Construction Manager and Estimator will lead an in-house hand-off meeting whereby the Project Manager, Superintendent, Safety Director, Site Specific Safety Rep, and Project Assistant are all educated and fully immersed in the intricacies of the project.

The Project Manager will be the main point of contact for the partner and will oversee the quality of the installation in accordance with the manufacturer standards, NRCA standards, OSHA regulations, local government standards, RCI standards, partner expectations, and J.R. Jones Roofing standards in conjunction with the on-site Superintendent.

The Project Manager in addition to non-working oversight will also act as a competent person to ensure safe practice compliance.  To accomplish this, the Project Manager will consult with the J.R. Jones Roofing Safety Director and Site Specific Safety Rep, who will create a comprehensive safety plan, site specific logistics, and a Job Hazard Analysis which will thereby lead into the formation of a safe work program. This safe work program will be delivered to the Project Manager for review and implementation.

The J.R. Jones Roofing Safety Director is an OSHA Certified Instructor, CERTA Authorized Trainer, and CPR Certified in addition to training certifications held in lift/crane operations, ladder safety, fall protection, and much more as a cornerstone of the administration of the Don’t Fall University (DFU) course catalog.

The Project Manager will discuss daily schedules and progress with the partner contact.  The Project Manager will consult with the Superintendent who will always be present on-site during construction to answer questions, maintain quality of craftsmanship, and ensure safe work practice. The Project Manager, Superintendent, and Foreman on site will all be designated as a Competent Person for the length of the project.

The Project Manager will act as Quality Representative for J.R. Jones Roofing to the partner contact.  All documents for the installation methods on all materials will be used and referenced for procedures and safety compliance.  All material will be stored in a safe protective manner to prevent damage from weather elements, unforeseen occurrence, and to mitigate risk to others.  All materials will be reviewed for compliance before installation.  Once material has been installed it is to be protected from other materials, elements, additional roof installation, unforeseen occurrence, or harm to other people.

The Superintendent and Foreman will always be on-site.  Each J.R. Jones Roofing Superintendent is OSHA 30 Certified and a CERTA Certified Torch Applicator. Additionally, each J.R. Jones Roofing Superintendent is enrolled in our FutureJones educational program, DFU, and must complete certifications for all safe work practices such as proper PPE, lift/crane operations, ladder safety, HAZCOM, and fall protection.

During construction the project will have no less than five different people performing safety audits on the project at any time on any given week. This will guarantee that all of the prep work, safety planning, safety meetings, and consistent site specific training is being utilized effectively and continuously.
